as a society we are getting so exhausted with neutrals that the only was to transition into color is with neon. inherently neon is not luxury, it at athletic, it is the miami club, it is in bad taste.

Stephen sprouse’s work was in admiration of 60’s silhouettes with 80’s day glow coloring— reminiscent of uniform clothing seen in construction work or on a garbage man.

his clothing was marketed towards uptown women, at uptown prices. the people that could afford it weren’t brave enough to wear it. and the people that wanted to wear it couldn’t afford it.

neon takes you out of reality, it lifts you up. using bold colors against black is extremely sexy and cartoonish. pure aesthetic, pure expression of an idea.
